Todays training started a bit frustrating. In my upcoming meet I have to do what is a called a straddle deadlift with a thick bar. You "straddle" over the bar with feet on both sides of the bar...reach down with a hand on each side of your legs... and pull. Well I have found that I am going to have trouble with that lift because of the size of my legs...it gets to my thigh range, and i have to some how force it and shrug it up...So I began messing with that lift today. After that I did walkout good mornings with the cambered bar...I did a 4 sets x 2 reps scheme...then did 3 singles...After that I did 5 sets of close stance cambered bar olympic style paused squats...all for singles...and all for explosion and speed. The pause at the bottom added a little bit of difficulty...maximum weghts were not used. After this I did some power clean work. I am one of those self taught guys when it comes to not only lifting in general...but especially olympic lifting...i am trying to find my groove with these cleans. Did all singles...for about six sets. Maryland is preparing for a big snowstorm...so if anyone is in that track...be safe! God Bless.
